Trip to 2006 Westminster

Nor'easter mauls New York
02/12/06

Record snowfall up to 27 inches brings NYC, neighbors to crawl
By Michael Powell and David Fahrenthold - Washington Post

NEW YORK - A Nor'easter snowstorm rumbled over New York City and New England
over the weekend, dumping record quantities of snow and bringing this densest of urban corridors to a silent stop.
The snow totals acquired a prodigious quality as one weather station after another weighed in
Sunday afternoon: Central Park stood at an all-time record 26.9 inches, Hartford at 21 inches,
Boston at 20 inches and the falling flakes still thick and accompanied by the rare peel of "thunder snow."

'We started out on Saturday night (02/11/06) at 7:00 pm and drove all night. We started to get into snow when we crossed into Pennsylvania. But, we were determined to get through. We drove all night and they were closing
New Jersey as we passed through it. We had to switch the Trail Blazer into 4 wheel drive as
we crossed into New York. We went straight to Madison Square Gardens to unload
the dog equipment and we did not reach Madison Square Gardens until 10:00am the next morning.
But, being 'dog show people', we knew
that the show WILL GO ON.. and we must be there.'

Mary Kay had her Bernese Mountain Dog entered and I was along for my first taste of New York....
(it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth this trip.)
